SteelDay is sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction and hosted by its members and partners. This annual event is the industry’s largest educational and networking function, and an opportunity for professionals to see how the structural steel industry contributes to building America.

This year’s event was a huge success, with more than 50 attendees touring the Steel, LLC facility. The shop tour was an opportunity for participants to see the company’s most recent projects, including the Vehicle Assembly Building for NASA’s Space Launch System.

High Bay 3, where the initial space shuttle was assembled, is currently being retrofitted in order to be used as the assembly area for the SLS Rocket. Platform 1 and Platform 2 are currently being fabricated, and are set for delivery by September 2015. The remaining eight will be completed by March 2016.
