We are excited to be a part of the new conversion of Doraville’s old General Motors plant into film studios for NBC’s Universal and Gray’s Swirl Films. NBCUniversal, one of the biggest film and television producers in the United States, plans to operate a sprawling production campus in Doraville, a major addition to the constellation of entertainment businesses planting roots in Georgia.

Our scope of work includes:

  • Eight (8) – Studio Buildings (Tilt wall construction with 130 ft and 150 clear span roof trusses)
  • Three (3)- Mill Buildings (CMU exterior walls with column and beam infill framing)
  • One (1)- Warehouse (Two-story conventional braced frame structure)

This multi-use complex will feature over 135 acres and 1,000,000+ square feet of film production space including soundstages, production offices, warehouse and mill buildings, event space and a parking deck. The buildings have distinct facades to mimic the architecture of New York, New Orleans, and Europe.

Gray Television, one of the nation’s largest owners of local TV stations, including Atlanta’s CBS46 (WGCL-TV) and Peachtree TV (WPCH-TV), has ambitious plans to build a mixed-used operation on the 135 acres over the next few years. The goal is to have the Assembly Studios complex completed in the second half of 2023. If all goes well, Gray’s Swirl Films, NBCU, and any third-party tenants can start film and television projects there by the end of the year.
